WELCOME TO MY JAGUAR MARK 8

The original plan was to turn the car into an XKSS replica, but as I discovered more about its past, I realised it deserved to be restored instead.

“FROM RUST TO RACER”

The Mk VIII was produced from 1956 to 1958, featuring a restyled body with a curved one-piece windscreen, cutaway rear wheel arches, and a chrome strip for two-tone paintwork. It was powered by a 3.4-litre engine producing 190 bhp.

With just 6,300 built, it is the rarest of Jaguar’s large luxury saloons.

The life of a jaguar MARK 8

Although much of the car’s early history remains unknown to me, I am very familiar with its life since being transformed into a race car for the Classic Saloon Car Championship.

The racing history

Henry (the 8), as he has come to be known, competed on the racing circuit from 1976 to 1991 under various owners and drivers. You can follow their journey here.

REBUILDING HENRY

After a busy racing career and three decades in retirement, Henry had seen better days. What followed was an extensive restoration, full of challenges and hard work.
